Course Structure of 8-Week CourseAs the themes of the 8-week course unfold, through meditation practice, group enquiry and experiential learning, you will gain insight and understanding into your blocks to present moment experience and how this creates stress and exhaustion.
Whilst the course is experiential, a small amount of theory will be offered, together with poetry and stories to underpin and enhance the learning. We will work in small groups and in the group as a whole to deepen experiential exploration.
The 1 hour daily home practice forms an important part of the programme, and will enable you to gain most benefit from your experience. Please carefully consider your commitment to home practice before booking.
We will meet once a week for two hours for 9 weeks. The first week is an orientation session, designed to settle you into the group and to better acquaint you with the structure of the course. An all-day class is held on a Saturday, prior to the end of the course, during which you can experience a full day of mindfulness practice.
The experience of belonging to a group over a 9-week period, with the realization that we are not alone in our struggle, can be a real benefit of the course. This often offers a sense of renewed inner resilience and confidence - key to finding the healing from within.
The programme is known to benefit people with a range of physical and psychological problems, though it is not necessary to have a specific health problem to find it helpful. We all have times in our lives when we experience difficulty and stress, and for some of us this is our daily experience.
The problem or illness itself may not change but the way we relate to and cope with the difficulty may shift.

Give yourself permission to escape the 'doing' and
busyness in your day, and join us for an hour of
learning how to connect with your sense of 'being'
and living your life more fully in the present moment.
Our ability to connect with our sense of 'being'
is, for many of us, an alien experience. Modern life
has encouraged us to disengage from the grounded
stillness of the present moment and inclines us to
operate mostly from our heads. This heady place,
creates a sense of urgency, pre-occupation,
distraction, rumination and disconnection from
ourselves, others and the world around us. No
wonder so many of us feel stressed and anxious
for so much of our lives.
As a participant of our drop-in group, we will
explore the ways in which you can learn how to
disconnect from your judging and thinking mind
with choiceful and compassionate awareness.
You will be guided through principal mindfulness
meditation practices, followed by an opportunity
to share experiences and explore how the learning
can be applied to everyday life. Participants are not required to talk in the group if they prefer to be silent.
The experiential focus of the group offers each of us the chance to learn from direct and shared experience. One of the greatest benefits of being in a group in this way is the realisation that we are not alone in our struggle; that our way of experiencing is common to us all. This can offer a sense of relief and self acceptance - a place from which change and healing can take place.
Mindfulness helps us to develop the skill to become more present in our lives and to choose our responses to challenges instead of being hijacked by our reactions.
When we learn to let go & accept what we cannot change, with compassion and kindness, we can experience relief, clarity & well-being.
